Flushing Syringe (Sodium Chloride)

Pre-filled sodium chloride (NaCl 0.9 %) syringes are used in conjunction with intravenous treatments, particularly during antibiotic administration. Their role is to:

  • Flush the IV line between antibiotic doses to ensure the full medication dose has been administered and no residue remains in the tubing.
  • Maintain catheter patency by preventing clots or blockages.
  • Avoid interactions or incompatibilities between different medications administered through the same line, if applicable.
